Migration data to and from New Zealand in September 2017 held very little surprises to previous months.

New Zealand’s major destination and source of migrants Australia, remained relatively steady. The number of kiwis Moving to Australia from New Zealand was up 6% from September 2016 and the amount of people moving from Australia to New Zealand was down 9.6%.

For the 12 months ended September 2017, 25,003 people moved permanently (for more 12 months) from Australia to NZ and 25,069 moved to Australia from NZ in the same period. A mere 66 being difference in the migration both ways across the Tasman.
