Shipping To Australia by JJ Smith March 6, 2018 written by JJ Smith March 6, 2018 14 When you move to Australia most of us need to send or take some stuff with us. Whether it’s sending a parcel or your personal effect (everything in your home) from New Zealand to Australia here is the information you need to know. Moving you and your family to Australia When your moving your whole family to Australia you are bound to have a house lot of furniture and other personal effects that need to go with you. It is certainly cheaper and easier than finding and buying everything you need when you get there. There are different shipping to Australia options to choose from depending on your need and your moving company will help you work out which is going to be best for you. Sole Use or Full Shipping Container If you have a house lot (three bedrooms or more) that needs to go to Australia with you, then a sole use or a full container will probably be what you need. The container will only have your goods in it. Shipping containers come in two sizes: twenty-foot and forty-foot. The standard NZ home, with three or four bedrooms, will usually fit in a twenty-foot container. You can get a no-obligation free quote from 5 moving companies to professionally pack your home and unpack it into your new home in Australia. Shared Containers If you don’t have a full house lot or a small one or two-bed home, then you can share a container. This means your possessions are put in a container with other people’s possessions. This means you are only charged for the space your belongings take up in the shipping container. This is the most economical way to ship your possessions when you are only shipping a portion of your household furniture or only cartons. Professional Packing Make your move as easy as possible and get your personal belongings professionally packed in your home in NZ and then unpacked in your new home in Australia. Some moving companies won’t move goods they haven’t packed because of the risk of breakages and then the drama those bring. Your email was lost with a handful of others when I was having email problems. Unfortunately, I do not know how much it costs to ship a 20 foot container to Brisbane from Dunedin or Bluff. If you don’t want to go through the exercise of selecting what items you want to ship in the quote form and want a ballpark figure, I recommend calling an international moving company. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. Please feel free to email me back any further questions you have. Good luck with your move.
